Confirm permitted locations
Ask where you may permanently live while doing the job and whether approval would be needed before relocating. Check for occasional office attendance or travel. Being able to interview from another country does not automatically mean the company can employ you there.
Understand the working week
Ask for expected hours, time-zone overlap, recurring meetings, onboarding requirements and on-call duties. Ask how the manager evaluates outcomes for teammates who rarely overlap. The ordinary week is more useful to understand than a general promise of unlimited flexibility.
Clarify the legal arrangement
Ask which business entity would hire you, whether the relationship is employment or contracting, and which work authorization requirements apply. Request written details of benefits, equipment reimbursement and paid time off. Seek local professional advice for immigration or tax questions.
Make compensation comparable
Confirm currency, guaranteed base pay, variable compensation, and whether your residence affects the salary range. Ask how the package changes after relocation or a switch of contract type. Decide based on the complete offer rather than one attractive headline number.
